Faith, umeed, امید - the one force that despite all others bringing us down, keeps us going.
Pakistan, over the years, has gone through unimaginable turmoil. We have been hit hard by everything a country could ever imagine; political, social and economic upheavals have forever dotted our path and we have battled beyond our capabilities. Despite this, not for a single moment have Pakistanis lost faith or divided. The Land of the Pure is the home of peace, empathy, happiness, success but most of all, togetherness and this article is a tribute to the strength and resilience of Pakistan. Whether we are talking about something as frivolous as a cricket match, or a stage as huge as the United Nations, Pakistan has always presented a united and powerful front and we wanted to highlight this in this week's article.
In the year 1947, Pakistan was created in the name of Islam, by two men, Allama Iqbal, and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The strenuous process we all so easily forget is one that respresented our ideologies and beliefs in the most real way possible, and today, it is so important that we come together in their name. The journey from the recognising the need for two nations, upto the Lahore Resolution, and beyond that to August 1947 has been embedded into our mindsets more than we could ever imagine. Our history is one that gave us the peace and freedom we now take for granted, and this is reiterated by the sheer extent of pain and violence people across the world are facing today. Pakistan is a blessing: a place we can find solace in, but also a place that gives us the zeal to keep going. One example of our unity is Land of the Pure, an organisation that was made in the name of passion and in the hope for change. When we started off a few months ago, we never imagined to see such growth in such a small matter of time; the support that came from Pakistani organisations and youth was heartwarming. Regardless of their own position, they wanted to help support a new Pakistani initiative, solely out of national spirit and once again, hope for change.
Land of the Pure, one article at a time, wants to highlight how each and every facet of Pakistan is home to a message. Whether that be in our glorious national anthem, or in the shining flag of the crescent moon and star, with our every presence, we aim to emanate our motto: faith, unity and discipline. This is something also living at the heart of every Pakistani; we acknowledge that our actions, regardless of how trivial, represent Pakistan and having witnessed the lack of appreciation that surrounds our country, we make every effort to shine in the best possible light. Whether that be academically, personally or professionally, our efforts and our perseverance are rooted in the genuine faith we have in our nation, but also the potential we house within ourselves.
At such a difficult time, the work Pakistanis living across the globe have done have helped us express our true selves, and become rays of hope for our community and beyond. This article's purpose was to shine a light on the positive, when the world seems all too bad.
